Deidre But-Husaim

Deidre But-Husaim is a visual artist who has oil painting at the core of her practice. In 2014 she was selected as the recipient of the Inaugural Guildhouse Collections Project at the Art Gallery of South Australia. But-Husaim has been a finalist in numerous major Australian art prizes including the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the Sulman Prize and the Archibald Prize. In 2013 she was the inaugural winner of the Tatiara Art Prize and also won the People's Choice in the Whyalla Art Prize. She has received various awards and grants from Arts SA and the Australia Council for the Arts to further her research and practice.

But-Husaim has held several solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, and is held in Artbank and in private collections both nationally and internationally. Her work has been curated into institutional exhibitions and is regularly featured in the art press, including in-depth profiles on her practice in Australian Art Review and Art Collector magazines.
